Just my opinion, but a beach wedding ceremony is, by nature, more romantic than any church setting could ever be. The sound of the surf, the texture of the sand and the vista of whatever body of water you choose all combine to make a beach wedding ceremony THE choice for an unusual day that will stay in your memory (and your guests'!) for a lifetime. Here are 5 ways to make your beach wedding ceremony your own:
1. Pick an 'off-the-beaten-path' beach to get married on. Even in the most populated, and popular beach resorts, there may be several nooks and bays away from the well-known ones, that would be just as beautiful. All you need is a road in!
2. Instead of having a DJ or a live band, consider choosing a single flutist, harp player or bag-piper to do your wedding music. There's something about a lone musician accompanying a beach wedding ceremony that is keep-it-simple simply beautiful.
3. Tell your guests - and your wedding party - that they'll be asked to take their shoes off at the edge of the beach. Even the most formal beach wedding ceremonies take on a whole different unique-ness when everyone present goes barefoot! (Besides, there's nothing quite like the feel of sand squishing between bare toes to cut down on EVERYONE'S stress level!)
4. Make your honeymoon 'get-away' vehicle a BOAT - have it anchored nearby, or pulled up on the beach during the ceremony and reception, and then 'sail off into the sunset' together when you leave.
5. Write your own beach wedding ceremony vows to say to one another. Obviously you've chosen a beach wedding ceremony because of your mutual love of the beach - do you scuba dive or go sailing together? Are you both involved in conservation efforts? Did you meet nearby? Whatever your mutual love of the beach is about can become the subject for vows you can write - and speak - to one another.
